Who may join
Venturing is for youth ages 14-20 (age 13 if completed 8th grade), who want to create their own adventures. No prior Scouting experience is required!
What we do
We target a monthly adventure, ranging from day-trips to multi-night events.
We have an in-person meeting once a month.
Leadership
Crew 863 is led by youth officers.
Adult leaders advise, mentor, and help with administrative responsibilities.
Optional advancement
Venturing has an optional advancement program. It culminates in the Summit award. None of our crew members have done this, and that’s fine. It’s an option if interested.
Also, youth who have earned the First Class rank through a Scouts BSA troop may optionally continue progress to Eagle Scout through a crew (more info).
Founding
Venturing Crew 863 started in September 2018 with 20 youth. We are chartered by Central Lutheran Church in east Dallas.
